HIRING: Lead Production Roaster

We're seeking a Lead Production Roaster to guide our Sydney roasting team in delivering consistent, high-quality coffee that reflects our brand standards and commitment to excellence. This position ensures the effective operation of the roasting facility, supports quality control processes, and contributes to continuous improvement across sourcing, production, and training.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The roasting team plays a crucial role in the delivery of our vision: for our brands to sit at every bench top where exceptional coffee is helping to raise the bar.
They're responsible for producing a consistent and exceptional standard of coffee for our customers and partners, building trust in our brand and maximising customer retention.
Our Sydney roastery is home to two iconic coffee brands - Coffee Supreme and Gabriel Coffee - and in this role you'll be proudly repping both. This role will be focussed on the daily preparation and roasting of our key blends and singles.
Key responsibilities include

Leading and developing the roasting team

Work with the AU Production Lead, Local Production Manager, Head of Coffee and other stakeholders to ensure we have sufficient green coffee on site to fulfil production schedules.

Prepare green coffee for roasting using the set blend recipes.

Roast coffee according to the production schedule, ensuring roasting profiles are maintained with consistency.

Record roasting data and perform QA and QC protocols.

Sample and small batch roast as required.

Fulfil all assigned service and cleaning schedules.

Assist in keeping Production areas and equipment clean and organised at all times.

Safely load and unload inwards and outwards goods.

Safely store items in the warehouse in the correct bays.

Perform regular stock takes.

Organise, attend and participate in regular cuppings.

Participate in our R&D program.

Greet and assist any customer, supplier or any other visitors to our roastery.

Participate in events at the roastery.
It's a full time salaried position (38 hours per week).
The ordinary hours of work fall between 6.00am and 5.00pm, Monday to Friday.
ABOUT THE PERSON
We're keen to find an experienced roaster who is excited to be on the tools, as well as working on the future development of the roasting department.
Key skills required

Have 2+ years roasting experience (ideally on Brambati and Probat equipment)

Ideally have experience roasting large volumes of coffee (10+ tonnes per week)

Leadership experience

Ideally have experience working with Cropster

Strong attention to detail

Be very organised and work to deadlines

Physically fit and able to safely lift and maneuver heavy items

Forklift licence an advantage

Excellent communication skills

Be able to prioritise tasks and adapt to an ever-changing workload

Demonstrate a well-educated palate and possess a willingness to further develop skills and understanding

Have a good understanding of espresso extraction and non-pressurised brewing methods

Have a good understanding of specialty coffee farming processes
