The Capoeira estate is situated in the south Minas Gerais region of Brazil, the estate spans over 100 hectares, with the coffee being grown at altitudes of up to 900 metres above sea level.
Marisa Contreras, the owner, was born in a coffee producing region, and was influenced by her father who had a deep interest in coffee farming. This ultimately resulted in the acquisition of the Capoeira Estate.
Marisa is very committed to projects related to women in coffee. She raises the flag for more opportunities to women who are passionate about coffee, and she has formed many great partnerships to give more space to female producers. For example, Café na Roca, a coffee shop located inside their facility, is a place where tourists can purchase products made by the women of the Capoeira communities.
